In case people don’t know. Flock is a surveillance company that tracks vehicle movements and sells those to police departments and commercial entities.
For Ring users, the process is the same. Your privacy and control over your videos and information are non-negotiable, and your participation is completely optional. Public safety agencies can’t see who received a notification or who chose not to respond. You can even turn off Community Request notifications altogether if you prefer. By combining community safety with strong privacy protections, Community Requests respects individual choice while helping neighborhoods thrive.
Sounds good.

That reads like it is opt-out, too. Just knowing where Flock traffic cameras are is no longer enough it seems. This is horrifying, because Ring cameras are nearly everywhere.
I’d like to see a world with only opt-in. Opt-out should be illegal with extreme high penalties like 50..100% of netto profit.
That’s a fixable problem!
We’re so cooked man.
I mean, I LOVE BIG BROTHER
Isn’t Ring owned by Amazon anyway? Why’d you trust them to begin with.
I don’t like being on the side defending Amazon but

It sounds like you’d get a notification when an agency asks for footage and you can accept decline or ignore.
I still don’t like it . Way too many avenues for abuse
So now every single Ring camera needs spray paint?
If only I had a Amazon Ring product … I already have 4 axes, a chainsaw and a stick welder … I’d be having such a good time now /s (and i’m not even in the USA)
