If Count Binface ends up beating him, it will be the icing on the cake.
Serious question. Say that does happen, what then? Binface isn’t a real person, but kind of a national joke like Jedi on the religion choices. If the count were to win, who if anyone would actually represent or would there need to be another election?
IIRC Count Binface is an actual British citizen who stands at elections, having changed his name by deed poll and appearing only in costume. His platform is obviously a joke, but there is a tradition of candidates running on joke platforms against high-profile candidates in the UK.
If Binface got elected, he’d either sit in parliament and serve his constituents as local MP, well or otherwise, or resign and cause another by-election to be held. I’m guessing that he’d at least try to be a constituency MP, possibly still in costume.
Huh TIL, the only thing I had known about him before this was the Matt Parker video where Matt was the count’s official vote tally rep
If he’s allowed to stand he’s allowed to win. Boris Johnson didn’t run under his real name either.
Clacton already voted for a national joke who does nothing to represent them, it’d be business as usual 👍
So, someone please explain to me. Why is Count Binface the only opponent? I read that the other major parties aren’t nominating anyone against Farage. But why? Do they want him to win?
Farage framed this by-election as the “people versus the establishment”, however, all the other parties consider this by-election to be a farce.
So they are going to let him win and get back in just… what, out of spite?
He was already in, if he wins, society hasn’t gotten any worse. Farage wants a circus, they’re just not participating. There’s now one anti-farage vote, so that’s not split giving the anti-farage the best chance of winning. Typically, the anti-establishment is one of Farage’s talking points, but now he’s up against a bin…. All he’s fighting is against a bin… If you’re truely ‘fuck politics’, you’re voting for the bin.
If Farage loses to Count Binface however… A circus he wanted, a circus he got.
