The funny thing about the “utterly pointless” limted edition was that it featured a CD (remember those?) of the game’s music, which struck me as odd because you could just use the game disc in the CD player I had. I guess some worked and some didn’t.

Will be travelling to Japan later this year and found out about these workshops in Tokyo where you get make “your own” modded Gameboy. Guessing modded refers to being able to choose custom shells and buttons, not so much to anything else there might be (I am not very knowledgeable about Gameboy mod scene).

Back in the early 1990s we didn’t have YouTube or Discord or Twitch to help us make informed game purchases, we just had to read reviews in magazines or buy games based on kick ass cover art, which is exactly what I did with this. I never played the first 3 and I think there were more after this one. Sega’s answer to Nintendos R-Type series. Again it was faster, crazier and turned everything up to 11 in the side scrolling shooter genre. I think there was also a 2 player option. The music was ace and the bosses were absolute bastards. I also spent a long time trying to draw the ship. I think this was called something else in the USA, Lightning Force maybe?
WipEout 2097 was my first WipEout. Its soundtrack is etched in my memory and is, for me, the greatest videogame soundtrack ever. It defined my tastes in music, even when I strayed away from electronic towards metal. But my absolute favorite memories were on Wip3out, especially the Special Edition.

I really love the level design of Need For Speed II. It’s at the same time intentionally unrealistic, but still feels “realistic” at the same same - as opposed to the cartoony feeling of the likes of Mario Kart.
I wanted to check out some of the new, third-party hardware made for the Dreamcast recently. I bought a Retro Fighters D6 controller and an 8BitMods VMUPro. I have the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth, GameSir Supernova, and GuliKit KK3 Max. I use these controllers when playing emulated retro games, so I thought I would share my thoughts on them if anyone is looking to pick up one!
Here’s another one from me. Wipeout was an ultra cool game. This is from 1995 and is still in fantastic condition, box and game inside are barely touched (how do you add multiple pics on here?). Wipeout featured a fantastic soundtrack featuring Orbital, Chemical Brothers and Leftfield amongst others. It was probably one of the earliest games to show what the PS1 was really capable off and blew away anything the competition had.
I ordered a Miyoo Mini Flip the other day and I want to curate a slim list of games for it, maybe three to five titles per system so I can just pick it up and quickly choose what to play. Therefore I need a selection of games that are actual heavy rotation material. What I mean by modern feel is quality of life stuff and a manageable difficulty curve rather than graphics. Most older games I’ve tried (that I didn’t play as a kid because nostalgia makes anything palatable) are just too hard without feeling rewarding. With my current emulation setup I find myself playing a lot of ROM hacks and Pico8 titles because while often with a simple concept those do usually check the modern feel marks I mentioned.
Like many of you, I have a decent amount of systems. Unfortunately, this means I always have a mess of cords. I don’t enjoy unplugging and replugging stuff to move it around (not to mention it’s hard on the ports) so I usually leave everything attached. But I pretty much always have a mess of cords, just from controllers alone.

Despite a few initial issues like screen flickering, and a persistent 1fps problem when winning a car, I would say RPCS3 has been easy to setup and the game looks decent upscaled to 4k.
I came across a post from Pixel Cherry Ninja on X of a new flashcart made by David Brito, who has turned this thought into a reality. David has a big history of modding retro consoles, having adapted N64s to be powered by USB-C, working with HDMI mods, and creating better controller solutions. He even made a built-in display for the Xbox 360 which is incredibly cool!
