Linux Gaming

I’ve been a long time Linux user on laptops, but this will be my first time putting hardware together and running a dedicated gaming rig on Arch. I’m aiming for a high end 1440p ultra wide gaming experience and some light Davinci Resolve work. Want to make sure I haven’t made any “first timer” mistakes with compatibility or bottlenecks.

Since lutris has gone slop mode I want to find an alternative, but I am yet to find a client that can automatically download, setup and update my itch.io library (the official itch.io software fucking sucks)

So with the upcoming Steam Frame release, I’m thinking about the possibilities. Steam Frame will have a full desktop environment, like the Steam Deck. Any guesses on how hard or easy it might be to throw dolphin on it, and use the controllers as emulated Wii Controllers?

Does anyone know how to run the elden ring enemy and item randomizer mod on Linux? I’ve been searching for guides but struggling to find any that where useful or up to date. Have seen people mention they have made it work though.

As noted in the title, I am trying to figure out the safest way to update the firmware on my recently purchased Keychron K1 QMK V6 keyboard. I was finally able to get the web based Keychron Launcher app to talk to my KB after using chmod to give the correct HIDRAW device read-write access but it looks like the new firmware needs another utility to be installed and only the Windoze directions are provided.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a cheap, old laptop to put Linux on and mess around with. I mainly want to see if I can find replacement software for some of the stuff I do on my Windows desktop, but maybe also some light gaming with Steam and Heroic launcher. I’d like to get some opinions on what brands/models I should be looking for on Craiglist/Ebay/etc.? Thanks!

I have a problem when installing games from other places than steam. First time I had it was when I wanted to play diablo 4 through the battlenet launcher (I do not own it on steam) so I installed battlenet through steam and then launched the launcher. Installed, played the game, no problem but the next time I booted the battlenet launcher Diablo 4 was gone. I did try it again and reinstalled and for some reason it just worked forever (untill I uninstalled it myself).

Every night, I put my computer to sleep. But should I be shutting it down every now and then? For example, maybe once a week or once a month?

I hate when you spend weeks getting games to work and then an update happens and everything is now broken. My copies of Simcity REFUSE to launch in any way and now i can’t reinstall them either. All my other games i had to change the runner and redirect the .exe on each game. I may just install 0.5.19 and see if i can get them to start working again.

I am kind of new to Linux. I started with nobara and got comfortable with the overall feel of Linux. Then a few weeks ago I switched over to cashyos, to try something new.

I made the mistake of believing some dumb guide online that recommended the Razer BlackShark v2 Pro for Linux. Literally the volume control is broken out of the box lol.

Playing The Finals on my Fedora KDE install, the game runs wonderfully under proton, however a recent update added verification to the EAC config file so the workaround I found to make Steam Background Recording work now causes the game to close. Is there another workaround for this?

Im thinking of trying either youtube twitch, but im unsure where to actually start or if gaming is something i want to actually do?

A few years ago I made a city in Cities Skylines inspired by Linux distributions. There is the main, free island with (mostly) desktop Linux distributions and the smaller, crowded, and restrictive Android island with various Android ROMs. I’ve probably put over 200 hours into this city in the game. This is a long post, so buckle up.

Hey all, I’ve got an under powered laptop that I would like to stream Steam games to from my main PC (main PC has an AMD 9070XT, laptop has something like an Nvidia 1660). What I need to do is still be able to use my main PC while streaming to the laptop at the same time.

My internet searches lead me to believe it’s possible to get the Minecraft “bedrock edition” running on Linux. Any pros here have any tips/tricks before I tell my kids that I’m a genius and it can be done? They want to play with their friends who game on consoles/mobile devices. Also, why does minecraft seem so odd with editions and launchers?!

I use Linux Mint and Lutris and i do own all these games, but lost the key or CD over the years. So i wanted to install them on my little Dell Optiplex with an 6th gen i5 and 32gb of ram with integrated intel graphics 730.

no idea if this is a recent development, but stumbled upon the info. you can run wine games on wayland directly, as opposed to the default, running it through Xwayland translation.

I’ve seen people complain about Ubuntu’s GUI and lack of customization, but then no one suggests them to try Kubuntu instead. It seems like people just don’t know that Kubuntu exists.

Hi! A few months ago, I was trying to get steam link vr working on my pc, and it was very… uncooperative, I spent ages trying to find a solution only to finally find it on some obscure forum post. So here’s how it went:

I am on a fresh cachyos install. my specs are 5070ti, 9800x3d, 32gb 6000mhz ddr5 ram. When playing Cyberpunk 2077 after around 10-15 mins of gameplay the game will freeze. If I quickly press the windows key and click back into the game it will resume. However this is pointless, because the game will always inevitably freeze. This does not freeze my entire system, only the game. I can alt tab and kill the process no problem.
